A long 9 1/2 hour flight from Amsterdam got us to our final destination – Lusaka, Zambia. We landed around 10pm Lusaka time (6 hours ahead of WL) and spent about 1 hour in line to get our visas, wondering all the time whether someone would be there to meet us. We had no phone numbers except for Alfred, who we knew was not in town. Well – we need not have worried at all! There to meet us when we came out was Alfred’s wife Sheeba. She drove us to our hotel – the Palmwood Lodge which we reached around midnight! The reception desk lady had almost retired for the night, but let us in our room which looked clean and comfortable. BUT, there was no water in the room 😦 So we were moved to another room with hot water and spent a comfortable night.
