Where has the time flown? I can’t believe that this process began in the spring of 2011 – TWO years ago with a little grant proposal! That first proposal was not funded. But we persisted and submitted another proposal in the fall of 2011, and this time it was funded! From October 2011 to present day has been a whirlwind – oh the things we’ve done! Learned about and from so many other programs, took a trip to Zambia last summer to meet community partners and and plan, prepared a course proposal, and an application process, recruited students, budgeted, prepared an itinerary, communicated, communicated, communicated with partners in Zambia, and here we are TWO years later – almost ready to go with our group of 12 students! The details we have to think of are amazing: so MANY things to think of! Over the past few months – since January at least, SLHS in Zambia has become my LIFE! I have been eating, sleeping and breathing “SLHS in Zambia”! I hope that the program is a success and we are able to sustain and grow it to be better and better!
